On October 25th we did our first delivery to École Doncaster School. Their choices were two popular pasta options from our menu: Macaroni & cheese and penne with Bolognese sauce. World Past Day is celebrated on October 25th of each year. Doncaster PAC's choices were perfect for the occasion. All the volunteers helping with the lunch day had a good laugh when they heard about World Pasta Day. Some parents were surprised to find out that our macaroni and cheese had yams, carrots, cauliflower and zucchini in it. It was great to meet the parents and the PAC members during the hot lunch day. All the meals were distributed by the volunteer parents quickly. We heard that everybody loved the meals. "Thanks Aysha for being prompt, organized, and for keeping the lunches hot. And extra thanks for the tasty, healthy meals!  We got lots of great feedback from the kids - saying it was a good amount and quite tasty. Clean was a breeze as well, since all the containers were compostable"  said the PAC Vice Chair in her email we received after the delivery. We are looking forward to our future deliveries to Doncaster.

This week we started our hot lunch deliveries with a new school - Montessori Selkrik by the Gorge Victoria. Our first delivery happened on iWalk Day. On October 5th students in BC schools were encouraged to walk to school, a healthy way to begin the day. The students at Selkrik Montessori were happy to have healthy lunches on the iWalk day. Our lean beef mini-burgers with hidden vegetables in them were enjoyed by the students. Vegetable cups with homemade yogurt dip and fruit cups were also offered to the students. We are happy that we will deliver our healthy lunches to the students at Selkrik Montessori every Wednesday for the 2011-2012 school year.

We would like to thank everyone who attended our open house and gave us great feedback on our meals. It was nice to meet new PAC members from SD 61, SD 62, and SD 63 schools.

We were happy to see many kids attend. It was hard to keep them away from the treats table. They enjoyed our chicken teriyaki & rice and meatloaf quite a lot. These are the two new menu items we offer this year. Wormy dogs were also a hit. It looks like "Hummus & Veggie Cups"  are going to be oredered by many schools this year. At the treats table, both the kids and adults gave 5-stars to our dirt cups - home-made pudding topped with home-made chocolate cookie crumbs and gummy worms. Most of the attendees were surprised to find out that we even make our own cookie crumbs.

We are proud to make all our meals and baked goods from scratch with the best ingredients. We are looking forward to providing healthy, tasty and fun meals to all the schools this year too.

We would like to invite all PAC members to our open house on Monday, September 19th, at our kitchen in Sidney. Please come and sample our menu options, and meet our team. We encourage you to bring your children to our open house as well. It's always nice to have their feedback. Looking forward to seeing you all. RSVP

We are pleased to announce that our menu for the 2011-2012 school year is now ready. Beside our best sellers like mini sliders, mac & cheese, and octodogs, there are new exciting menu options like wormy dogs, muffin meatloafs, and chicken teriyaki. We have also added new vegetarian and gluten-free meal options and treats. Please see the full list on our menus page.

Piranhas swimming club hosted the Vancouver Island Swim Meet at Crystal pool and chose Healthy Edge to cater the event. On the weekend the pool and the park outside were packed with approximately 200 swimmers and their families who traveled to Victoria for the 2 day event. Swimmers and their families enjoyed our mini burgers, mac & cheese, fresh fruit cups, and the hit of the event, chocolate pudding. Our individually packed meals made it very easy for volunteers to handle the food at the event. Chocolate pudding was the kid's favorite. The weather was great and everyone had fun at the event.
